Lisa O. Bontrager has performed as soloist and chamber musician throughout the U.S., Europe, South and Central Americas and Japan. Bontrager has appeared as featured artist at the Southeast Horn Workshop, the International Women’s Brass Conferences, Western US Horn Symposium in Las Vegas, Western Illinois Horn Workshop and the Oficinate Musica De Crutiba, Brazil.
Presenting masterclasses throughout the world, Bontrager serves as Distinguished Professor at Penn State where she received the Faculty Scholar Medal for the Arts and Humanities. Bontrager performs and records regularly with the Pennsylvania Quintet, the Millennium Brass and horn duo, MIRRORIMAGE. She serves as principal horn of the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra, Altoona Symphony, Penns Woods Festival, and as Tenor Hornist of the Brass Band of Battle Creek and has performed with the Baltimore, Harrisburg and Chautauqua Symphonies.
Bontrager served four terms on the Advisory Council of the International Horn Society. She appears on over 20 recordings, including her solo CD, “Hunter’s Moon,” released on the Summit label. Her brand-new release, “Abide With Me, Great Hymns in New Settings” for horns, voice and piano is available on MSR Classics. Lisa holds performance degrees from the University of Michigan.
