Paula Kasica

Paula Kasica received her Bachelor of Music from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music. She was a student of Jacob Berg (Principal flute, Saint Louis Symphony) Gerald Carey and Julius Baker (Principal flute, New York Philharmonic). Paula was the top prizewinner at the Julius Baker New York Masterclass in 1978.

Paula has appeared as soloist with several symphonies. She has taught at UMSL, MO Baptist University and Webster University. She has played Principal Flute in the St. Louis Philharmonic for 15 years and spent ten years as the flutist for Equinox Chamber Players, commissioning several new works for woodwind quintet.

Paula has performed with the Saint Louis Symphony, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Aspen Music Festival, the Grand Teton Music Festival, the Fox Theatre Orchestra, the Ballet Orchestra of Saint Louis and the Bach at the Sem Series.

She has been a performer and faculty member of the Christian Performing Artists Festival since 1997. Paula has performed at the International Chinese Music Festival Changsha and Zhengzhou, China for 3 years giving Masterclasses and playing in the orchestras.

She and her husband John have toured the world as “WINDFIRE: Flute & Percussion Spectacular” and they recently released two CDs of their favorite works for flute and percussion. In 2006 WINDFIRE won the Chamber Music Award from the National Flute Association. Paula has also recorded an improvisatory worship CD called “Breath of God,” distributed by Integrity Europe and available on ITunes. She has recorded with Hosanna Music, New Earth Productions, and Restoration Arts.

In 1984 Paula and her husband John founded Creative Arts Fellowship, a ministry devoted to uplifting and encouraging all people to recognize the beauty of the gifts they have been given by God. They continue to mentor artists and musicians from around the world.
