What is one of your favorite memories from a previous year at MasterWorks?

Some of my favorite MasterWorks memories are from morning devotions with my other WISP flutists and our teachers/mentors.  It was such a small group that year that not only did we receive awesome life talks and devotions but also shared a lot of laughs and heard more than a few hilarious stories from our teachers’ past experiences.  It was pretty cool.

What are you most looking forward to experiencing at MasterWorks 2016?

Reflecting on all these memories, I’m realizing how much I’m looking forward to the people at MasterWorks and the abundant wisdom from all of the faculty members….I think that in the two years I’ve been away from MasterWorks, God has helped me realize even more what a blessing the people there really are, and I’m so excited to return and meet old and new friends.  So I guess you could say I’m really looking forward to experiencing people and fellowship. 🙂

What is one of your favorite memories from a previous year at MasterWorks?

Of the two years I’ve attended the festival it’s nearly impossible to select only one memory to share. From the life-changing moments in worship services and the enacted prayer nights, to the fun of Gong shows and Improv nights, there’s a lot that I’ve had the privilege to be a part of. But, I think if I do have to bring it to just one event, it would have to be the moment in my first year in 2013 when I first went to New York. I had never been to the city before, so it was a dream come true even just to be standing on Times Square and seeing all of the people. And on top of being there, we were there as performers, acting in an off-Broadway production. It was an incredible experience and one of the most meaningful in my life.

What are you most looking forward to experiencing at MasterWorks 2016?

What am I not looking forward to this summer! Getting to work with new students at the festival, performing a new show with a new cast family, getting to explore the new Cedarville campus and celebrating our 20th anniversary; there’s so much to look forward to! Most of all though I am anxiously anticipating getting to be part of the MasterWorks ministry for my third year. I pray and expect many good things to happen this year as they always have.

Kathleen MonroeName: Kathleen Monroe
Age: 20
Program: SISP(Cello)

What is one of your favorite memories from a previous year at MasterWorks?

Playing in the orchestra for the Dvorak Cello Concerto with Alan Harrell last summer (after he had heroically agreed to substitute perform it only a few days before the concert) was one of my favorite memories and most memorable musical experiences. I have never been so aware of God’s presence during a performance as during those four movements. For an encore, the entire orchestra and audience joined Alan in playing/singing “Amazing Grace.”

What are you most looking forward to experiencing at MasterWorks 2016?

I am really looking forward to continuing to learn how to combine my cello playing with my faith through the encouragement and influence of the faculty and students in the festival and, of course, to having fun while doing it!
