MasterWorks is Moving! 2023 Announcement

For immediate release November 20, 2022

Dear Friends, Family, Partners, and Alumni of The MasterWorks Festival,

News! News!

We are writing to let you know of an exciting and important new development for The MasterWorks Festival. We have had a season of listening closely for the Father’s direction in a new era for the Festival. Due to changes regarding their focus, priorities and projects, Converse University is no longer able to offer us dorms and performance halls as we have had for the last 6 years. We have considered many options to try and remain in Spartanburg, but it became clear it was both logistically and cost prohibitive for us. We want to be good stewards of what the Lord has formed.

With that said, we have exciting news! After vetting 34 colleges and universities, the Festival is moving to Campbellsville University in Kentucky! The President of Campbellsville University, Dr. Joe Hopkins, has become a dear partner in the work of Jesus in furthering the mission and vision of The MasterWorks Festival and is actively making wonderful plans and accommodations for our unique summer events.

A note from President Hopkins:
“Campbellsville University and the Central Kentucky community are delighted to partner with MasterWorks to present the 2023 Festival.  This has long been regarded one of the great summer orchestra festivals in our nation, and we share a common commitment to a Christian mission.  We are enthusiastic about joining the long and rich legacy of music at Campbellsville to the decades of exceptional performance and teaching through The MasterWorks Festival.
Personally, I had the honor of performing as guest artist at The MasterWorks Festival many years ago.  It was a joy to encounter the brilliant faculty, and I was stunned to hear these talented students gathered from across the country.  Now, we can experience the music of this extraordinary festival right here in Taylor County!” – Dr. Joe Hopkins, President

We will dearly miss our home in Spartanburg, but we are so thankful for the time there and we cherish the wonderful friends we’ve made and hope to continue those precious relationships.

We would ask that you spread this news. We want as many students to benefit from a summer with The MasterWorks Festival as possible. Our application is now open on the website, and we are looking forward to all the new students we’ll meet, and returning students we will get to see again! We are still offering our early bird discounts and we are keeping our tuition rates the same.

We welcome your prayers, word of mouth “advertisement”, and financial investment you may feel led to give into the lives of the next generation of classical musicians.

With gratefulness,

Adam Smith, Board Chair – adam@soundpress.com
Chip Hill, Exec. Dir. – chip@christianperformingart.org
