“My weeks spent at WISP have seriously been one of if not THE most impactful experience I have had as pertains to my art and Christian faith as one. As cliche as it may sound, WISP is not just a two/four week program – it is a springboard for possibility. To this day I am still discovering and uncovering ideas from the seeds planted in my heart and mind while studying there.”
– Esther, WISP 2014 flutist

Flute Intensive is a personalized two-week immersion study program with Anne Harrow, Associate Professor of Flute and Piccolo at the Eastman School of Music. In addition, MasterWorks is pleased to announce our guest artist, Bonita Boyd, renowned flutist and professor at the Eastman School of Music.
Flute Intensive (affectionately known as “Flute Camp”) is designed for advanced flutists (ages 17-26) who are motivated to take their musical and spiritual gifts to the next level through intense individual study, practice, and mentorship within a challenging and encouraging Christian environment. Flute Intensive is ideal for students who wish to master the basics (tone production, technical development), polish solo repertoire and orchestral excerpts, and refine audition and performance skills. Studio class topics will include how to develop an effective practice routine, how to be your own best teacher, how to make friends with the piccolo, how to stay inspired. Topics will be flexible and personalized to meet the needs and interests of participants.
Flutists will enjoy
Performance Opportunities include:
In order to maximize individual practice time, chamber music participation is optional as time permits. As an added bonus, flutists are invited and encouraged to remain at MasterWorks after Flute Camp to perform in the Orchestral Program for a modest additional fee.
Daily Bible study, quiet time, and prayer encourage the integration of faith and art at MasterWorks. Small-group Bible studies, led by faculty mentors, meet Monday-Thursday and are required for all festival participants. Seekers and questioners are welcome! Bible study materials are powerful and relevant, focused on issues relating to artists. Many students say that these supportive small groups are their favorite part of the festival! (Please refer to the spiritual life section on the MasterWorks website for more information.)
Flute Intensive is open to qualified students ages 17-26. 6 to 8 participants will be selected on the basis of video auditions. Application requirements are available on the Wind Intensive Study Program page.
